WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT THE ITALIAN FRONT?
It's not the most well-known, but it included some of the most deadly and fierce battles of the war. America and Great Britain suffered over 300,000 casualties, while Germany had over 434,000. In the end, the Allies successfully helped overthrow a fascist dictatorship, cut the German-Italian axis, and threatened Germany from the south. Lessons learned from coordinating planes, ships, and troops proved helpful at Normandy.
